A special thanks to Tiffany Flynn and Dawn Hibbard for all their hard work and dedication designing and raising money for the Dick Cordell Memorial Plaque.  It currently resides just inside our meeting room at the Food Bank.  This plaque is an appropriate and tactful way to honor the memory of Dick’s service to the Rotary Club of Flint and Rotary International as a whole.

The plaque reads:

“This plaque is dedicated in memory of Richard F. “Dick” Cordell.  September 30, 1917 – January 28, 2013 for his commitment to Rotary and his inspiring embodiment of the Rotary motto “Service Above Self.”  His life-long commitment to service began in WWII when he served his country as a bomber pilot.  He continued to serve his community when he joined Rotary on September 1, 1963, serving the Rotary Club of Flint as President in 1974/75 and 1975/76, serving Rotary District 6330 as Governor in 1984/85 and serving the Rotary Club of Flint as its Secretary/Treasurer for 29 years from 1980 to 2009.  In addition to his leadership, Dick served others in countless little ways every day, from family to friends to people a world away.  When needed, Dick was there to serve.  To know Dick was to know Rotary.”
