May 18, 2024 7:45 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
On May 18th gardeners and growers will again come to the parking lot behind Neighborhood Engagement Hub at 3216 M. L. King between 11:30 and 5 to pick up their garden kits (i.e. vegetable and pollinator transplants and seeds…and lots of community information.) Last year over 300 separate purchasers from Flint and surrounding communities purchased vegetable plants and seeds and more than 50 volunteers worked and shared the day!
Edible Flint Garden Starters is asking for 8 Rotarian volunteers to start distribution day (May 18th) at Walker’s Farms, 5253 E. Atherton Road, Burton at 7:45 a.m. where you will load 92 flats of vegetable plants to be transported to the Neighborhood Engagement Hub.
The volunteers are asked to come to the Neighborhood Engagement Hub and unload the flats and to join other volunteers to assemble the 950 gardeners’ kits. We would be delighted to have additional Rotarian volunteers to come directly to NEH to assist with the assembly of the kits. The kit assembly phase is expected to be completed by 11:30.
Distribution of kits begins at 11:30 and ends at 5:00. We are recruiting volunteers to assist with distribution and any Rotarian is welcome to assist us for the afternoon.
